Elle a permis d\u2019alimenter la population pendant les nombreux jours \u00ab\u00a0maigres\u00a0\u00bb (sans viande) impos\u00e9s par l\u2019\u00e9glise.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/le-port-14.jpg\" alt=\"Chapelle Sainte-Anne Saint-Quay-Portrieux\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>La travers\u00e9e vers Terre-Neuve, longue de 2.250 miles nautiques (soit 4.167 km) durait au moins trois semaines. Le voyage \u00e9tait p\u00e9rilleux sur les navires portant de 30 \u00e0 50 hommes d\u2019\u00e9quipage et charg\u00e9s des petites barques qui serviront \u00e0 p\u00eacher sur les c\u00f4tes de TN. Le d\u00e9part avait lieu au printemps. La rade du Portrieux \u00e9tant la plus profonde, les navires morutiers de toute la baie de Saint Brieuc s\u2019y rassemblaient avant le grand d\u00e9part.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>De nombreux navires du Portrieux pratiquaient \u00e0 Terre-Neuve la p\u00eache dite s\u00e9dentaire. Des installations \u00e9taient implant\u00e9es pour abriter les hommes et pr\u00e9parer le poisson qui, p\u00each\u00e9 \u00e0 partir de barques, \u00e9tait sal\u00e9 et s\u00e9ch\u00e9 \u00e0 terre. <br \/>Certains navires allaient p\u00eacher \u00e0 la d\u00e9rive sur les grands bancs et ne touchaient pas terre. Les hommes embarquaient sur des canots ou &#8220;doris&#8221; \u00e0 partir desquels ils p\u00eachaient. Le poisson \u00e9tait pr\u00e9par\u00e9 et sal\u00e9 \u00e0 bord.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/le-port-15.jpg\" alt=\"Chapelle Sainte-Anne Saint-Quay-Portrieux\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\">Trait\u00e9 g\u00e9n\u00e9ral des p\u00eaches &#8211; Henri Duhamel du Monceau &#8211; 1769<\/h6>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Apr\u00e8s une longue et dure campagne de p\u00eache \u00e0 Terre-Neuve et sur les grands bancs, le retour s\u2019effectuait vers la fin du mois d\u2019Ao\u00fbt ou d\u00e9but de septembre. Une partie des navires ne rentrait pas en Bretagne et allait directement vendre le chargement de morues \u00e0 Marseille ou dans d\u2019autres ports m\u00e9diterran\u00e9ens. Ils revenaient \u00e0 leur port d\u2019attache juste avant le printemps, charg\u00e9s de marchandises diverses (huile, savon\u2026) de sel achet\u00e9 en Vend\u00e9e pour les prochaines campagnes et d\u2019alcool destin\u00e9 aux rations quotidiennes de l\u2019\u00e9quipage.<\/p>\n<p>Au d\u00e9but du XIX\u00e8me si\u00e8cle, les armateurs \u00e0 la grande p\u00eache d\u00e9couvrirent un nouvel Eldorado : l\u2019Islande. La travers\u00e9e vers l\u2019Islande \u00e9tait plus courte que celle vers Terre-Neuve, la campagne \u00e9tait plus longue, la p\u00eache plus profitable, mais aussi plus dangereuse car les temp\u00eates \u00e9taient fr\u00e9quentes et les c\u00f4tes inhospitali\u00e8res. Les navires utilis\u00e9s pour Terre-Neuve n\u2019\u00e9tant ni assez rapides ni assez man\u0153uvrants pour les eaux islandaises, la go\u00e9lette \u00e0 hunier, plus fine, plus rapide, plus maniable, fleuron des chantiers navals paimpolais \u00e0 partir de 1850, sera le navire islandais embl\u00e9matique d\u00e9crit par Pierre Loti dans \u00ab p\u00eacheurs d\u2019Islande \u00bb Les marins ne d\u00e9barquaient pas et p\u00eachaient depuis le navire, les morues \u00e9taient pr\u00e9par\u00e9es et sal\u00e9es \u00e0 bord.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/le-port-16.jpg\" alt=\"Chapelle Sainte-Anne Saint-Quay-Portrieux\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span>D\u00e9but\u00e9e fin f\u00e9vrier la p\u00eache \u00e0 Islande s\u2019achevait g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement en septembre. Comme pour la p\u00eache \u00e0 Terre-Neuve, certains bateaux rentraient au port, d\u2019autres ne d\u00e9sarmaient pas et partaient commercialiser leur p\u00eache le long des c\u00f4tes m\u00e9diterran\u00e9ennes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Bonnes ann\u00e9es, mauvaises campagnes, naufrages, le Portrieux a v\u00e9cu \u00e0 ce rythme jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la fin de l\u2019armement pour la p\u00eache \u00e0 la morue. Tout le pays \u00e9tait organis\u00e9 autour de cette \u00e9conomie de la grande p\u00eache\u00a0: armateurs, capitaines, matelots, mousses, avitailleurs, charpentiers, etc. A l\u2019apog\u00e9e en 1820, dix navires ont quitt\u00e9 Portrieux pour Terre-Neuve avec 550 marins \u00e0 bord. Le Portrieux est depuis toujours un centre de cabotage tr\u00e8s actif.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/le-port-18.jpg\" alt=\"\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/le-port-19.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>En 1800 des cutters, voiliers rapides \u00e0 un seul m\u00e2t, assurent un service r\u00e9gulier avec Jersey et Guernesey pour le commerce des primeurs mais aussi pour le transport de la main d\u2019\u0153uvre saisonni\u00e8re. Ils sont relay\u00e9s \u00e0 la fin du 19e si\u00e8cle par des navires \u00e0 vapeur et des go\u00e9lettes. Le trafic du port vers les \u00eeles anglaises s\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ve en 1857 \u00e0 70 navires arm\u00e9s au cabotage. A cela il faut ajouter l\u2019activit\u00e9 de dragage des sables calcaires pour les besoins de l\u2019agriculture et de la construction. Toutes les exportations de denr\u00e9es du d\u00e9partement vers l\u2019Angleterre passent par le Portrieux. Sur leurs petits canots, d\u2019abord \u00e0 voile puis \u00e0 moteur, seuls ou \u00e0 deux, chaque jour, les marins p\u00eachaient \u00e0 la tra\u00eene les poissons souvent vendus par leurs femmes.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Le \u00ab\u00a0trait\u00e9 g\u00e9n\u00e9ral des p\u00eaches\u00a0\u00bb de Henri Duhamel du Monceau publi\u00e9 en 1769 note qu\u2019en Baie de Saint Brieuc, on p\u00eache surtout \u00e0 la ligne et un peu au filet\u00a0avec des bateaux de 2 ou 3 tonneaux\u00a0: turbots, plies, congres, lieux, vieilles, mulets, anguilles de mer, raies, soles, roussettes, rougets, maquereaux. On drague les huitres, et on pose nasses et casiers.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A partir de 1930, les bateaux sont progressivement motoris\u00e9s.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/le-port-22-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/le-port-22-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Dans les ann\u00e9es 1950-1960, apr\u00e8s avoir \u00e9puis\u00e9 les bancs d&#8217;oursins, les coquilliers polyvalents, arm\u00e9s aux dragues \u00e0 praires puis aux coquilles Saint-Jacques, vont d\u00e9velopper une p\u00eache \u00e0 la fois durable et rentable. Pour pr\u00e9server le gisement la p\u00eache \u00e0 la coquille est strictement contingent\u00e9e. Les Ponts et Chauss\u00e9es r\u00e9alisent l&#8217;abri du canot \u00e0 l&#8217;emplacement de l&#8217;actuelle coop\u00e9rative maritime.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Les premiers canots, mis \u00e0 l&#8217;eau \u00e0 partir de 1867, marchent \u00e0 l&#8217;aviron et \u00e0 la voile. Ils ne seront motoris\u00e9s qu&#8217;apr\u00e8s la seconde guerre mondiale. Les HSB (Hospitaliers Sauveteurs Bretons) prennent la station en charge, jusqu&#8217;en 1967 o\u00f9 leur fusion avec la SCSN donne naissance \u00e0 la SNSM (Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Nationale de Secours en Mer). Toutes ces structures de sauvetage en mer qui sauvent tant de vies sont associatives et fonctionnent gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des b\u00e9n\u00e9voles.<\/p>\n<p>La station SNSM de Saint-Quay-Portrieux dispose d&#8217;un local sur le terre-plein du port d&#8217;Armor. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 lui, Saint-Quay-Portrieux est &#8220;port de refuge&#8221; pouvant faire partir la vedette de sauvetage \u00e0 tout moment, de jour comme de nuit ind\u00e9pendamment des mar\u00e9es et accueillir tous les secours m\u00e9dicaux. C&#8217;est une station permanente qui dispose d&#8217;une vedette de premi\u00e8re classe &#8220;Sainte Anne du port&#8221; et d&#8217;un grand semi rigide. A cela il faut ajouter l\\u2019activit\\u00e9 de dragage des sables calcaires pour les besoins de l\\u2019agriculture et de la construction. Toutes les exportations de denr\\u00e9es du d\\u00e9partement vers l\\u2019Angleterre passent par le Portrieux. Pour l\\u2019ann\\u00e9e 1858, on a compt\\u00e9 267 navires \\u00e0 l\\u2019entr\\u00e9e et 261 \\u00e0 la sortie, dont 177 anglais.\\u00a0<\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p>Au d\\u00e9but du XX\\u00e8me si\\u00e8cle le commerce de la houille avec Cardiff se d\\u00e9veloppe, notamment pour alimenter le four \\u00e0 chaux du Portrieux. 22 000 tonnes sont d\\u00e9charg\\u00e9es en 1913.<span class=\\\"Apple-converted-space\\\">\\u00a0<\\\/span><\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p>Deux caboteurs, Le L\\u00e9onard et Le Tr\\u00e9gor, assurent encore dans les ann\\u00e9es 1960 le transport du ciment et de la chaux.<\\\/p>\",\"content_en_gb\":\"\n\n<p>In 1800, cutters, fast single-masted sailing ships, provided a regular service to Jersey and Guernsey for the early produce trade and also to transport seasonal labour. Every day, the sailors used their small dinghies, first sailing then motor boats, alone or in twos, to troll for fish often sold by their wives.<\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p>Henri Duhamel du Monceau's \\\"Trait\\u00e9 g\\u00e9n\\u00e9ral des p\\u00eaches\\\", published in 1769, notes that in the Baie de Saint Brieuc, fishing was mainly by line and a little by net in 2 or 3 tonne boats: turbot, plaice, conger eel, pollack, mullet, sea eel, skate, sole, dogfish, red mullet and mackerel. Ils ne seront motoris\\u00e9s qu'apr\\u00e8s la seconde guerre mondiale. Les HSB (Hospitaliers Sauveteurs Bretons) prennent la station en charge, jusqu'en 1967 o\\u00f9 leur fusion avec la SCSN donne naissance \\u00e0 la SNSM (Soci\\u00e9t\\u00e9 Nationale de Secours en Mer). Toutes ces structures de sauvetage en mer qui sauvent tant de vies sont associatives et fonctionnent gr\\u00e2ce \\u00e0 des b\\u00e9n\\u00e9voles.<\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p>La station SNSM de Saint-Quay-Portrieux dispose d'un local sur le terre-plein du port d'Armor. Gr\\u00e2ce \\u00e0 lui, Saint-Quay-Portrieux est \\\"port de refuge\\\" pouvant faire partir la vedette de sauvetage \\u00e0 tout moment, de jour comme de nuit ind\\u00e9pendamment des mar\\u00e9es et accueillir tous les secours m\\u00e9dicaux. C'est une station permanente qui dispose d'une vedette de premi\\u00e8re classe \\\"Sainte Anne du port\\\" et d'un grand semi rigide. Elle compte une quarantaine de b\\u00e9n\\u00e9voles et agit sous les ordres du CROSS CORSEN (Centre R\\u00e9gional Op\\u00e9rationnel de Surveillance et de Sauvetage pour la Bretagne Nord).<span class=\\\"Apple-converted-space\\\">\\u00a0<\\\/span><\\\/p>\",\"content_en_gb\":\"\n\n<p>Since 1865, Portrieux has been home to a lifeboat station under the aegis of the SCSN (Soci\\u00e9t\\u00e9 Centrale de Secours aux Naufrag\\u00e9s). The Ponts et Chauss\\u00e9es built the dinghy shelter on the site of the current maritime cooperative.<\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p>The first canoes, launched in 1867, were rowed and sailed. They were not motorised until after the Second World War.
