{"id":3538,"date":"2025-02-21T09:40:57","date_gmt":"2025-02-21T08:40:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/casqp.fr\/?page_id=3538"},"modified":"2025-05-04T16:12:25","modified_gmt":"2025-05-04T14:12:25","slug":"kermor-odorico","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/casqp.fr\/en\/kermor-odorico\/","title":{"rendered":"La Villa Kermor - Les ODORICO, mosa\u00efstes vous d'Italie en Bretagne"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/kermor\/\">[close]<\/a><\/p>\n<hr>\n<h1>\n<h2>les ODORICO, mosa\u00efstes venus d\u2019Italie en Bretagne<\/h2>\n<\/h1>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/25_fontaine_facade_cafe_Angers.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<hr>\n<h1>\n<p>La technique de la mosa\u00efque<\/p>\n<\/h1>\n<div>\n<p>La mosa\u00efque est un art d\u00e9coratif dans lequel des \u00ab\u00a0tesselles\u00a0\u00bb, fragments de pierre, d\u2019\u00e9mail, de verre ou de c\u00e9ramique sont assembl\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019aide de mastic ou d\u2019enduit pour former des motifs.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Tr\u00e8s utilis\u00e9e pendant l\u2019antiquit\u00e9 et au moyen Age particuli\u00e8rement par les byzantins et les italiens, cette technique \u00e9tait tomb\u00e9e presque dans l\u2019oubli en France jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce que Charles Garnier la remette \u00e0 l\u2019honneur pour la d\u00e9coration de son op\u00e9ra inaugur\u00e9 en 1875. <br \/>Il confia la r\u00e9alisation des merveilleuses mosa\u00efques polychromes de l\u2019op\u00e9ra Garnier, sols et vo\u00fbtes de l\u2019avant foyer d\u2019inspiration byzantine, au mosa\u00efste italien Gian Domenico Faccina.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/26_opera-garnier.jpg\" alt=\"Chapelle Sainte-Anne Saint-Quay-Portrieux\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<h6><i>Mosa\u00efque op\u00e9ra Garnier<\/i><\/h6>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Ce fut le renouveau des mosa\u00efques qui \u00e0 partir de la fin du 19<span><sup>e<\/sup><\/span> si\u00e8cle connurent un grand succ\u00e8s partout en France, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 leurs qualit\u00e9s d\u00e9coratives et \u00e0 leur r\u00e9sistance. Elles \u00e9taient r\u00e9alis\u00e9es principalement par des artisans italiens venus de la province du Frioul, proche de Venise et de Ravenne, o\u00f9 une tradition de pavage et de mosa\u00efque tr\u00e8s ancienne s\u2019\u00e9tait transmise au fil des si\u00e8cles, de g\u00e9n\u00e9ration en g\u00e9n\u00e9ration.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/27_italie_et_frioul.jpg\" alt=\"Chapelle Sainte-Anne Saint-Quay-Portrieux\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Les Frioulans avaient d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 une technique particuli\u00e8re utilis\u00e9e par Faccina, appel\u00e9e \u00ab\u00a0la pose \u00e0 revers\u00a0\u00bb. Au lieu de r\u00e9aliser les mosa\u00efques en pose directe, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire en ins\u00e9rant les tesselles une \u00e0 une dans le mortier, ils pr\u00e9paraient les diff\u00e9rents panneaux en atelier. Le d\u00e9cor \u00e9tait dessin\u00e9 grandeur nature sur un papier fort, et les tesselles coll\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019envers sur le papier. Les diff\u00e9rentes parties du d\u00e9cor ainsi pr\u00e9par\u00e9es en atelier \u00e9taient transport\u00e9es sur le chantier o\u00f9 une autre \u00e9quipe les assemblait dans le mortier frais. Une fois le mortier sec, le papier \u00e9tait retir\u00e9 et le d\u00e9cor apparaissait \u00e0 l\u2019endroit\u2026 Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 cette technique, les frioulans r\u00e9duisirent consid\u00e9rablement le temps et le co\u00fbt de r\u00e9alisation des mosa\u00efques, une des raisons de leur succ\u00e8s\u00a0!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/28_pose_a_revers-Odorico_lart_de_la_mosaique.jpg\" alt=\"Chapelle Sainte-Anne Saint-Quay-Portrieux\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<h6>\u00a0 \u00a0La pose \u00e0 revers<\/h6>\n<\/div>\n<hr>\n<h1>\n<p>Isodore Odorico \u00ab\u00a0p\u00e8re\u00a0\u00bb 1845-1912\u00a0: du Frioul \u00e0 la Bretagne<\/p>\n<\/h1>\n<div>\n<p>Isodore Odorico \u00ab\u00a0p\u00e8re\u00a0\u00bb et son fr\u00e8re Vincent, mosa\u00efstes frioulans, arriv\u00e8rent en France avec l\u2019\u00e9quipe de Gian Domenico Faccina pour participer \u00e0 la r\u00e9alisation des d\u00e9cors de l\u2019op\u00e9ra Garnier. <br \/>A l\u2019issue du chantier ils d\u00e9cid\u00e8rent de rester en France, d\u2019abord \u00e0 Tours puis \u00e0 Rennes o\u00f9 ils cr\u00e9\u00e8rent leur entreprise en 1882. Rennes se d\u00e9veloppait, particuli\u00e8rement autour du quartier de la nouvelle gare. Travaillant avec des architectes et des cimentiers, les deux fr\u00e8res proposaient avec grand succ\u00e8s \u00e0 leur client\u00e8le des d\u00e9cors en mosa\u00efque \u00e0 la mani\u00e8re v\u00e9nitienne ou romaine et des dallages tr\u00e8s adapt\u00e9s aux lieux publics, cages d\u2019escalier et entr\u00e9es d\u2019immeubles, des \u00ab\u00a0paillassons\u00a0\u00bb, des d\u00e9cors de fa\u00e7ades pour immeubles et commerces, qui ornent toujours la ville de Rennes et nombre d\u2019autres villes bretonnes comme Saint Malo ou Dinard. Le sol est couvert d\u2019une grande composition g\u00e9om\u00e9trique \u00e0 motifs de fleurons quadrilob\u00e9s. <br \/>Dans les autres salles et couloirs, le d\u00e9cor plus sobre laisse la primeur \u00e0 la vue privil\u00e9gi\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/30_Odorico_pere_banque_Loyer_Rennes.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<h6><i>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Banque Loyer \u00e0 Rennes<\/i><\/h6>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/31_Odorico_pere_hall_entree_Kermor.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<h6><i>Hall d&#8217;entr\u00e9e de la Villa Kermor &#8211; Saint-Quay-Portrieux<\/i><\/h6>\n<\/div>\n<hr>\n<h1>\n<p>Isidore odorico \u00ab\u00a0fils\u00a0\u00bb (1893-1945)\u00a0: vers le style Art-d\u00e9co<\/p>\n<\/h1>\n<div>\n<p>Isidore Odorico \u00ab fils \u00bb est n\u00e9 \u00e0 Rennes. Depuis son plus jeune \u00e2ge, accompagnant son p\u00e8re et son oncle il acquiert leur technique. A la fin de la premi\u00e8re guerre mondiale, apr\u00e8s avoir compl\u00e9t\u00e9 sa formation \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cole des beaux-arts de Rennes, il prend les r\u00eanes de l\u2019atelier familial avec son fr\u00e8re, pr\u00e9nomm\u00e9 Vincent comme son oncle.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Jusqu\u2019\u00e0 son d\u00e9c\u00e8s en 1934, Vincent se charge de la gestion de l\u2019entreprise et Isidore des aspects artistiques et techniques. Puis Isidore devient l\u2019unique patron. <br \/>Tr\u00e8s influenc\u00e9 par les travaux de la s\u00e9cession viennoise et les courants picturaux de son temps, il adapte la technique de la mosa\u00efque au style Art d\u00e9co et r\u00e9ussit \u00e0 imposer son style personnel. <br \/>Consid\u00e9rant la mosa\u00efque comme partie int\u00e9grante de l\u2019architecture, il diversifie les mat\u00e9riaux et les choisit en fonction de la surface \u00e0 rev\u00eatir, marbres, gr\u00e8s c\u00e9rame et pierres dures pour les sols, p\u00e2tes de verre, \u00e9maux, smaltes d\u2019or et d\u2019argent pour les parois. Ses d\u00e9cors originaux et uniques, souvent tr\u00e8s color\u00e9s, m\u00ealant figures g\u00e9om\u00e9triques et \u00e9l\u00e9ments v\u00e9g\u00e9taux ou animaux, s\u00e9duisent la client\u00e8le en qu\u00eate de nouveaut\u00e9. L\u2019organisation du travail est tr\u00e8s rigoureuse. Des frises murales de Roger Reboussin compl\u00e8tent l\u2019ensemble, hymne \u00e0 ce qui peuple la mer. La villa est inscrite \u00e0 l&#8217;inventaire suppl\u00e9mentaire des Monuments Historiques depuis le 13 juin 1986. Instead of laying the mosaics directly, i.e. inserting the tesserae one by one into the mortar, they prepared the different panels in the workshop. The decoration was drawn life-size on heavy paper, and the tesserae were glued to the paper in reverse. The various parts of the decor thus prepared in the workshop were transported to the site, where another team assembled them in fresh mortar. Once the mortar was dry, the paper was removed and the decoration appeared right-side-up... Rennes was growing, particularly around the new railway station district. Working with architects and cement manufacturers, the two brothers successfully offered their customers mosaic decorations in the Venetian or Roman style, as well as paving perfectly suited to public spaces, stairwells and building entrances, \\u201cdoormats\\u201d and facade decorations for buildings and businesses, which still adorn the city of Rennes and many other Breton towns such as Saint Malo and Dinard. From an early age, accompanying his father and uncle, he acquired their techniques. At the end of the First World War, after completing his training at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Rennes, he took over the family studio with his brother, named Vincent after his uncle.<\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p>Until his death in 1934, Vincent managed the business and Isidore the artistic and technical aspects. Isidore then became sole owner. <br \\\/>Strongly influenced by the work of the Viennese Secession and the pictorial currents of his time, he adapted mosaic technique to the Art Deco style and succeeded in imposing his personal style. <br \\\/>Considering mosaics to be an integral part of architecture, he diversified his materials, choosing them according to the surface to be covered: marble, porcelain stoneware and hard stone for floors, glass paste, enamel, gold and silver smalt for walls. Its original and unique decors, often very colorful, combining geometric figures and plant or animal elements, appeal to customers in search of novelty.
